Results of the 38th Chablis Wine Competition

The Competition of Chablis Wines, organised by the Office du Chablis in partnership with the Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB), took place on Saturday January 20, 2024, under the presidency of leading French sommelier: Jean-Luc Jamrozik, President of the Association des Sommeliers de Paris.

This year, the 63 members of the jury tasted the vintage 2022 for the Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Premier Cru appellations and the vintage 2021 for Chablis Grand CruThey awarded 27 medals out of the 335 wines tasted, an increase in the number of entries thanks in particular to the excellent harvest in 2022 after a more difficult year in 2021.

A special feature of this competition is that professionals entering their wines are not allowed to be members of the jury. The panel includes journalists, restaurant owners, sommeliers, wine traders, oenologists, wine growers and enlightened amateurs.

The wines are judged in two rounds of tasting: the wines that score highest in the first round, when they are sampled by all the tasters, are then put before a “super” jury, which selects the medal winners.
