2020: An early, classic Chablis vintage

The year 2020 will forever be remembered for the COVID-19 pandemic. As France went into lockdown in March, the vines were ahead of schedule with early budburst forcing winemakers out at night to protect them from spring frosts.

This advance continued throughout the seasons, and on the eve of the harvest, the grapes were in fine health. Picking began at the end of August and continued through until mid-September, in ideal conditions.

The grapes were high in quality, resulting in promising, well-balanced wines with fine tension and lots of fruit. The freshness was maintained despite the heat of the summer. This is an absolutely classic vintage – and that’s the magic of Chablis wines!
