FRANCE: CHABLIS WINES CONFIRM THEIR POSITIONS

As is the case in many countries, France has experienced a nice upswing in consumption and a return to investment by businesses, which allowed it to finish 2021 with an economic growth of 7%, compensating in part the 8% decline in 2020.

Bourgogne wines have benefited from this upswing, even though sales in 2020 were globally sustained. From the moment that restaurants reopened, many enterprises in the field observed a return of orders and an interest on the part of restaurateurs in proposing to clients that they have wine with their meals.  And Chablis remains the Bourgogne appellation most present on restaurant wine lists.

In wineshops, demand for Bourgogne wines has not flagged, and was confirmed in 2021.

Finally, in supermarkets, Chablis wines have progressed for the second straight year.
